Ok, let’s assume that’s true. But Lilith you still haven’t engaged the idea itself. What exactly is ludicrous or absurd? The fact that it’s written by men? The fact that it’s fictional? As mentioned before, thought experiments — which are always fictional — will often seem odd and unlikely, but they are set up specifically for the purpose of hashing our theories and ideas, and they are used by all sorts of professionals and academics in the soft sciences. So what’s ludicrous about this one in particular? Is it that this would never happen, that hypothetical Mary would surely take care of the baby? Or surely not?
